"Go Green" - this is the slogan of the educational graffiti mural that MOVE.BG officially presented on June 12 near the South Park in Sofia. The initiative reminds us of the importance of nature in the city and presents 150 green ideas on how to protect it and make Sofia one of the leading cities for green development in Europe. The project is part of MOVE.BG's "Mission Green Sofia" initiative which aims to support the successful green transformation of the capital and other municipalities in Bulgaria. The partner of "Go Green" is the Triaditza District of Sofia Municipality.
The graffiti mural includes typical elements of the urban environment and representatives of biodiversity in Sofia, including an image of a tit - one of the symbols of the capital. "Go Green" provokes us to think about the role of nature in the life of the city - a theme that we often forget in the rush of everyday life. The project is carried out together with the "Sofia Graffiti Tour". The author of the graffiti mural is Ventsislav Yosifov-Jermain.
The Tit Calling
The project has an educational focus, presenting to citizens possible solutions on how to go green and protect the environment. Through a QR code, 150 ideas for green development of Sofia can be accessed. The ideas have been given by 55 leading Bulgarian experts, gathered by MOVE.BG to create solutions for a successful green transformation of the capital.
The experts' recommendations cover key topics for green development at the local government level: introducing nature-based solutions, improving urban planning, making a successful energy transition, attracting businesses to the green transformation of the municipality, the role of communication, and improving coordination of green policies. MOVE.BG has summarized the experts' recommendations in the report "Mission Green Sofia: Prepared for the Future", which is available here (in ENG).
"Nature in the city is a fundamental prerequisite for our quality of life. That is why we need to preserve and expand its presence. Green urban development is the way to do this. It is more than environmental measures. We need an integrated green transformation program that unites management and economic measures and involves all citizens.
This is what the graffiti mural "Go Green" tells us. It is important that we all go green today - city authorities, businesses, and every single citizen. I believe that the new administration of Sofia Municipality will recognize green transformation as a key long-term strategy for Sofia's development and prosperity," said Sasha Bezuhanova, founder of MOVE.BG.
The graffiti mural is located in the Triaditza District of Sofia Municipality - near one of Sofia's favorite green zones - the South Park. You can see it in the underpass to the park on the side of “Gotse Delchev” Boulevard.
"Green Triaditza is our home. We embrace it with attention and love, value its inhabitants, and preserve it as our greatest treasure. Green Triaditza is not a goal, but an inspiring journey that we experience together," said Dimitar Bozhilov, the Mayor of Triaditza District.
