MOVE.BG has opened a call for Bulgarian projects for Social Innovation to Tackle Energy Poverty - a European accelerator program, focused on finding innovative solutions that support the access to energy services by everyone. Through the accelerator, MOVE.BG wants to support innovative projects and businesses in the energy sector and to help the transition to sustainable energy solutions.

This year the contest covers five European countries with the highest levels of energy poverty: Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, and Bulgaria. According to the latest edition of the Energy Poverty Index in the European Union (EDEPI), Bulgaria is the country with the highest levels of energy poverty, which are defined as extreme.

The accelerator

Social Innovation to Tackle Energy Poverty is a joint initiative of Ashoka - a US-based organization that supports innovative entrepreneurial projects around the world, and Schneider Electric Foundation - an NGO that helps communities with the serious disadvantages. The contest is under the aegis of Foundation de France, an independent structure of the French government.

Innovative projects can now apply for the program. Fifteen finalists will be selected to join a five-month acceleration program that will help them improve their strategy and increase their positive impact on the society and environment.

Following the application phase, one winner from each country will be chosen for a €3500 award. The finalists will also receive financial support and access to the markets of Schneider Electric.

Do you have an innovative idea to tackle energy poverty? Do you want to help people with low incomes live under normal conditions?

Apply now!

Due to the high interest and inquiries, the application deadline has been extended to midnight on April 14 (Sunday).

We are making our tomorrow together!
