A few days before the new electricity prices come into effect in Bulgaria and at the height of another public debate about the need for reform of the energy system, MOVE.BG will give a platform for different views - those based on innovative business solutions. We will present ideas and projects that put people and not political interests at the heart of the decision-making process. We will discuss the energy revolution, Bulgaria's role in it, and why we need to support innovative solutions. The event will take place on May 20th (Monday) at 19:00 at MOVE.BG’s home in the capital Sofia.
During the event, we will present Bulgarian finalists in the European accelerator “Social Innovation to Tackle Energy Poverty.”You’ll have the opportunity to meet young, ambitious, and capable teams and learn why they want to help energy-poor citizens with innovative and bold solutions.
We will also organize a panel discussion with experts from the businesses sector and the energy industry along with civil sector experts, and state officials. They will discuss how to reform the energy sector via innovations and new technologies. You’ll also hear how experts from different areas view the issue of the energy poverty: the inability of households to obtain energy services at an affordable price and the inability to properly heat and cool enough homes in the winter and summer seasons respectively.

“Social Innovation to Tackle Energy Poverty”
For the first time this year, Bulgarian projects will have the opportunity to work with the global energy giant Schneider Electric and to be part of a 5-month mentoring program with proven European energy experts. The accelerator is organized by the international organization for social innovations Ashoka and the Schneider Electric Foundation in partnership with Foundation de France. MOVE.BG is the local partner for Bulgaria. The competition is also held in Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, and Poland.
